The Woman Flyfisher’s Club – June 1963

Out of stock

The Woman Flyfisher’s Club – June 1963. An early monthly publication from the WFFC, volume XVI. The club was established in 1932, with Julia Fairchild serving as the first president. Notably, she remained president still when this booklet was published in 1963. The club was formed in part because the women were not allowed to join or fish with the men’s club–the prestigious Anglers’ Club of New York. Most of their early outings took place on the Neversink River, but they frequented various waters in the Catskills. The club remains operational today, with the Beaverkill now considered their home waters. As one would assume, many of the club members were from New York City, but others were from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and other states, with a full roster at rear of the booklet. Articles on trout fishing in eastern Europe, California, and Kashmir, as well as various activities, outings, member profiles, club rules, and more. B&W illustrations throughout. B&W illustrated soft cover, with staples at spine. A couple stains and some writing on front, with stains at rear also. Internally, clean overall. VG condition. The item is exactly as pictured.
