Appraisals
Haerer Services can provide detailed and honest appraisals for insurance and other purposes. Our appraisals are based on both short- and long-term records of realized sales. At the end of the appraisal, we will provide a detailed appraisal letter and a spreadsheet with all of the information we used in our appraisal for each individual book. Please note that hiring us for an appraisal excludes us from purchasing your books or other items to avoid any conflicts of interest.
Consulting
Have you recently inherited a book collection and you are not sure what to do with it? Are you stuck with an estate full of stuff? Are you unsure how to store your new books or whether to insure them? We are here to help! We were there once–feeling very overwhelmed as new booksellers staring at a vast unorganized and undocumented collection. Deciding what to do with your new books/items can be stressful and challenging. Selling them yourself can be even more difficult. We are happy to help determine what approach is best for you and to provide guidance every step of the way.
Conditioning
Not sure how to condition your book? It can be a tricky process and take years to learn. We are happy to offer conditioning workshops either in person in western MA or virtually. Please contact us for details and to set up a custom course that meets your needs and fits your budget.
We Buy Books, Art, Maps, and Other Items
Interested in selling your books, art, maps, collectibles, antiques, or other items, particularly sporting items? Please give us a shout! We regularly purchase items to add to our inventory and will work with you to determine a fair price. We are happy to help box, move, and transport items. In addition to the items mentioned above, we are always on the lookout for fishing rods, reels, flies, and lures, furniture, other miscellaneous hunting and angling items, signs, cast iron, tools, and more. No collection is too big or small to consider.
