Thy Rod and Thy Creel – Odell Shepard – 1930. A first edition, in original dust jacket (in mylar). Signed by Shepard on title page. Laid in is a Christmas card with an original poem written by the author called ‘Housemates’ and signed within. Considered by some to be one of American fly fishing’s better literary works. Notably, Shepard was a former professor of English at both Trinity College and Yale in Connecticut. “I could read Odell Shepard practically daily” states Arnold Gingrich in his “The Fishing in Print”. A fun and captivating read for any angler. DJ uncommon, although with a few marks, small chips, and a rip at upper right edge. Book with green cloth boards.
