The endeavor was launched by Capt. Charles A.J. Farrar, noted author and sportsman, particularly known for his sporting tales of adventures in Maine. This vol. 1, no. 8, released in August 1891. The magazine was only published approximately monthly until October 1892. This noted as a sample copy at top of front wrapper. With beautiful B&W illustrations throughout–some full page. Blue SCs with black text. Ads at front and rear. Stories of fishing, hunting, nature, travel, and more from around the United States. Wrappers with some browning, wear, and a minor chip at rear.
