The Gun Club Drink Book – Browne – 1939. A relatively uncommon first edition, and a classic in the field of mixology. Browne was a Princeton graduate who then attended Penn Medical School. He was later the Mayor of Princeton (1914-23), a congressman, and the President of the Nassau Gun Club. The book includes chapter on the history of drinking, wine, wine in cooking, cocktails, punches and other mixed drinks and more. Described as “a recipe book on the making of alcoholic beverages and the various sorts of alcoholic drinks most frequently enjoyed at parties and festive occasion.” Browne also published ‘The Gun Club Cook Book’. Black and white illustrations throughout. Orange cloth boards with illustrations. Some light edge rubbing and bumping, with fraying at upper edge. Some marks on rear cover.
