Out of stock
Fresh-Water Angling: Fifty Books and Other Material, Tracing its Development – Karl Otto van Kienbusch – 1947. A first edition, containing an essay from Kienbusch titled ‘The Contemplative Man’s Sport’ followed by a bibliography of his books and materials included in the exhibition. This exhibition occurred in the treasure room of the Princeton University library in May to June 1946. Kienbusch was the first to discover the manuscript for ‘The Arte of Angling’ and had an illustrious sporting collection. The book(let) is inscribed from Kienbusch, informally known as Otto, to Edward Hewitt. Hewitt was an author, inventor, and sportsman. He established the Big Bend Club on the Neversink River in the Catskills and held numerous angling patents. He authored numerous books on trout and salmon fishing, as well as a handbook of fly fishing, among others. Below this inscription is another to Frederic Colie, a judge from New Jersey with ties to the Tuscarora Club and an avid sporting collector. A rare little booklet with great provenance. Green wrappers with black lettering and illustration to front. B&W frontis. General wear, with green turning to brown around edges. Various marks and stains on back. Internally very clean. VG condition. The book is exactly as pictured. Any questions, please ask.
