Green cloth boards with gilt fly and black lettering on front and various gilt features at spine. Former owner bookplate. With inscription from Alice Stevens dated Christmas 1880–unable to confirm if she is directly related to the author. Edge wear and rubbing to boards, especially at spine ends. A few marks to boards as well. Paper fully cracked at front hinge, with minor crack to paper at rear hinge. FFEP with corner chip. An occasional mark/spot, but generally quite clean.
