Fishing with the Fly – Charles Orvis – 1883. A rare first edition with incredible provenance. Inscribed and signed by the author to Milton Bradley, the renowned manufacturer who also designed the elaborate trade card for Orvis, among other things. Illustrated with 15 color plates of trout, salmon, and bass flies. Gilt decorative blue cloth with a gilt upper page edge. The blue cover much less common than the green. Cover with minor wear at ends of spine, edges, and corners. Minor marks to EPs and occasionally throughout book, but quite nice, clean, and crisp. Slight separation at block toward center of book. Intials lightly penciled at lower page edge. Near fine overall. The book is exactly as pictured. Any questions, please ask.
