The Fly Fisherman’s Guide to Boston Harbor – Jack Gartside – 2000 Signed w/ Letter
Out of stock
The Fly Fisherman’s Guide to Boston Harbor – Jack Gartside – 2000. Inscribed on the title page from the author to Elisha Lee, with signature. Lee was an angling author, earl proponent for saltwater fly fishing, officer of the Atlantic Salmon Federation, and a member of the Miramichi Salmon Association. He was also a long-time member of The Fly Casters Club of Boston and the Tihonet Club of Wareham, MA. Moreover, he was active with the American Museum of Fly Fishing. Laid in is a letter from Lee to Gartside about fishing near Long Island, signed at the bottom. Below the letter is a written and signed response from Jack, noting that Lee should have followed them that night. A scarce title published by a Boston angling legend. Gartside was among the most talented and innovative fly anglers of the modern era, with patterns featured in the books of Eric Leiser, Judith Dunham, Lefty Kreh, Dick Stewart, and Dick Brown, to name just a few. The book is considered one of the most detailed, area specific, and insightful books on fishing Boston Harbor for striped bass. In the book, Gartside describes a wide variety of fishing situations: beachfront, mussel beds, gravel bars, jetties, breakwaters, rock gardens, and surf, with enough variety in a small area to have some interest for just about everyone. Loaded with B&W illustrations. Soft covers with spiral binding. These little gems are extremely rare in the wild, especially with this type of provenance. Only minor shelf wear. VG+ to NF condition. The book is exactly as pictured. Any questions, please ask.
